I designed and built the EZ Tunnel in 2011 as an experiment in simplified tunnel boat construction. Consequently, the boat is rather squared off and boxy.

My main goal for the EZ was a simplified boatbuilding project for the first time builder. Racing performance was a secondary consideration. But much to my surprise, the EZ turned out to be very fast, consistently testing at about 48.5 mph. That's as fast, or faster, than any GT Pro currently racing.

Unfortunately, I've only had a few opportunities to race it, not enough times to really get familiar with it. But there is no reason to think this boat couldn't be very competitive for someone who drives it consistently.

In the video below, the EZ does very well in a head-to-head contest with the Pro Tunnel (#32), and I get out to an early lead. But it was a rough, windy day and I backed off later in the race, not wishing to push the boat to the breaking point.

GT Pro is local class for the Twin City Powerboat Association. GTP uses the 30/35hp Johnson/Evinrude, hydraulic trim and any propeller. Minimum age is 12 years old.
