Chines

Attach a 1.5" x 5" glue block on the inside face of each sheer clamp right behind the stem. This will provide additional screw and glue surface for attaching the chine -- and later for attaching the deck stringer.

The photo shows the block as seen after the boat is upright -- the only good pic I have.

No ripping of the chine is required. By now enough of framework is completed to stand up to the strain of bending them into place.

The chines are sliced off AND beveled at about a 20-degree angle along their lower edge in order to land cleanly on the sheer clamp.

The chines are offset inboard about 3/8", and terminate at about the aft edge of the stem.
